Chocolate brownies


Dark Brown and full of flavor, these Brownies are simply irresistible.

They make a good Tea time treat…

 

Preheat the oven to 160 degree C/325 F/Gas 3

Grease a 28cm X 18cm/ 11 X7 inch Shallow Baking Tin.

 

Ingredients

Makes 20

150g/2/3 cup Butter or Low Fat Spread.

1 Level teaspoon Advantage Sweetener

50g/1/2 cup Advantage Solsulin Fibre.(Optional)

150g/ 1 cup pitted Dates (softened in 1 cup Boiling water and 1 level teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda) allow to cool to room temperature.

170g/1.5 cups Whole meal flour

10ml/ 2t Baking Powder

60ml 4tbsp Cocoa powder dissolved in 30ml hot water

60ml/4tbsp unsweetened Apple or Pear Puree (Optional)

90ml /6tbsp unsweetened Coconut milk.

50g/1/2 cup Roughly Chopped Walnuts

 

Method

Cream the Butter/ margarine with the Dates, Advantage Sweetener, Advantage Solsulin Fibre and Eggs.

Add the Apple/Pear puree and unsweetened Coconut Milk.

Sift together Flour, cocoa powder and baking soda.

Add to wet Mixture and fold in till smooth.

Stir in the nuts.

Spoon mixture into Prepared Tin.

Bake for 45mins or until a Skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool for a few minutes in the tin then cut into 20 bars

Cool on a wire rack.
